I have been married to Allan for almost 26 plus years. We have two beautiful daughters, Karyn, and Laura. Karyn works as a Senior Care Assistant for Royal Blind. Laura is 22 years old and has Severe Learning Difficulties. She attends The Mirin Day Centre 4 days a week and goes to a college course in West College Scotland the other day.
I have always been into all kinds of crafts from a very early age. I particularly enjoy knitting, and used to knit garments for a local wool shop. Over the last year, I have taught myself how to crochet, and can now master simple patterns,
At school I was particularly good at art and I think this must be where my creativity started. Until June of 2018 I was a Brownie Guider and was always the one to organise all the arts and crafts.
I started my card making journey around 21 years ago. I had a nasty fall which resulted in a fractured ankle. This left me in plaster for 6 weeks and confined to the house with very little mobility. I spent most of my days watching daytime TV and channel hopping. One day I stumbled over a QVC craft show with Dawn Bibby. To help ease my extreme boredom, I purchased a simple card making kit and have been hooked on card making ever since.
Whilst I started my crafting journey with quite simple cards, I have learned a wealth of crafting information and techniques over the years by watching Craft TV and You Tube videos. Its also good to look at other crafting blogs for inspiration. I must admit, I am probably my worst critic. I am not always confident that my cards are good enough, but most people seem to like and buy them. I do not advertise my cards, all order come through word of mouth. Over the years I have gained several regular customers, who keep coming back for more. I guess I must be doing something right!!!!
